BREAKING NEWS: Solemn High Mass: Tuesday, July 16th at 10:30am

On Tuesday this week (July 16th) there will be a Solemn High Mass at 10:30 AM at St. Ann Catholic Church. Deacon Noah Carter asked me to share this news and welcome all to attend.

The Mass will be a Votive Mass of the Holy Spirit celebrated by Dom Daniel Nash, the prior of the Canons Regular of Glen Cove, NY [http://newsite.augustiniancanons.org/].  They will be using the new red set of vestments that were purchased with funds from the CLMC fundraiser last year.  The Mass commons will be Byrd's Mass for 4 voices.

Just a reminder that Father McNeely will also be offering a Traditional Latin Mass (Low Mass) at 8:00am on Tuesday at Saint Ann Catholic Church.

This has got to be a first for the Diocese of Charlotte, to have two traditional Latin Masses on the same day at the same parish.

[Latin Mass Schedule Update] July 2013

The month of July is a very event filled month. We are blessed with three distinguished visitors who will be offering Masses as well as giving talks and reflections. What a blessing for our parish.

1. As you may have heard our newly ordained Father Jason Christian (see attached picture) will be assigned at St. Ann for the summer months. Since Father Reid will be out of town for a couple weeks, Fr. Christian will be handling the full Mass schedule (Ordinary and Extraordinary Form) for St. Ann. Please pray for Father Reid for safe travels and for Father Christian for having to "fly solo" one week after his ordination. Father Reid told me that he would be making a full announcement in the upcoming Sunday bulletin.

2. VISITING PRIEST #1: Father McNeely, FSSP is the Pastor of St. Stephen The First Martyr Parish in Sacramento, CA -- the largest FSSP run parish in the country (and the church where my wife and I were married!). Father McNeely will be giving a reflection on the Spirituality of the Traditional Latin Mass. The talk will be in the church on Monday, July 15th at 7:00 pm. Please RSVP: http://clmc-july2013-1.eventbrite.com/

3. VISITING PRIEST #2: As previously announced, Father Cassian Folsom, OSB, Prior and Founder of the Monastero di San Benedetto in Norcia, Italy is coming to Charlotte July 25th-28th for a variety of events:

  • On Thursday, July 25th at 7:00 pm (at the Cathedral of St. Patrick), there will be a reception followed by a reflection. Click here to see the full invite and to RSVP: http://www.paperlesspost.com/events/4269159-a307e0a2/replies/81069391-f593676e#paper/front/0
  • On Friday, July 26th at 7:00 pm (at St. Ann Catholic Church), there will be a Solemn High Mass with Bishop Jugis in attendance (also referred to as "in choir") in honor of the Feast of St. Ann, Mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary
  • On Sunday, July 28th at 12:30 pm (at St. Ann Catholic Church), Father Folsom will preside at the regularly scheduled High Mass

4. VISITING PRIEST #3: As a part of an ongoing guest speaker’s series, the Charlotte Latin Mass Community (CLMC) is pleased to sponsor Fr. Michael Rodriguez of the Diocese of El Paso who will be offering a series of events at Saint Ann Catholic Church during the week of July 29th--August 3rd.

  • From Monday (July 29th) through Thursday (Aug 1st), Fr. Rodriguez will be offering a series of talks on the miraculous Marian Apparitions at Fatima and how the messages delivered by Our Lady of Fatima impact our lives today. The schedule for each day Mon-Thurs will be as follows:
    • 6:00 pm: Mass (Extraordinary Form)
    • 7:00 pm: Talk: "Messages of Our Lady of Fatima"
    • 8:00 pm: Confession in English (or Spanish if desired)
  • On Friday (Aug 2nd) at 7:00 am, Father Rodriguez will offer a First Friday Mass in the Extraordinary Form (Low Mass).
  • Also on Friday (Aug 2nd) in the evening, Father Rodriguez will give a reflection in Spanish on the topic of Sacred Liturgy and Catholic traditions. The schedule will be as follows:
    • 5:00 pm: Confessions in Spanish (or English if desired)
    • 6:30 pm: Talk: "Sacred Liturgy and Catholic Traditions"
  • On Saturday (Aug 3rd), at 9:00 am, as a special event specifically for the Hispanic Community, Father Rodriguez will offer Mass in the Extraordinary Form (First Saturday; Low Mass), however, instead of giving a homily in English, the homily will be delivered entirely in Spanish. This is the first of its kind in the Diocese of Charlotte -- a Mass in the Extraordinary Form offered specifically for the Hispanic community.
